H.R. Das is a contemporary Indian artist whose paintings draw deeply from Hindu mythology, symbolism, and the enduring cultural presence of Nandi, the sacred bull. Born in 1972 in Burdwan, West Bengal, Das earned his B.F.A. from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh, developing a distinctive visual language that brings traditional Indian themes into a contemporary artistic expression.
A recurring and powerful subject in his practice is the Bull or Nandi. Rather than portraying the bull merely as a mythological figure, Das gives it a commanding presence, expressive character, and visual strength.
